ADD TO – > GOODREADS
This book is such a sweet story. It’s a quick read and the perfect rainy day book (or at least it was for me). I love second chance romances and books where friends fall in love so this was a win/win.
Danielle and Timmy (TJ) were neighbors who grew up together. They were best friends until their early teens. Being accepted by different groups (or not accepted at all) caused the pair to grow apart and at fourteen Timmy moved away. As the two went on with their separate lives fate had different plans and after college their paths crossed once again and they were given a new start.
Overall, the story was pretty straight forward with few surprises. With all the angsty stories out their that jerk your heart around it’s nice to read a story that will just make you smile and your heart flutter. Danni and TJ were really quite adorable as they rekindled their friendship and fell in love. TJ was perfect, too perfect at times and Danielle was a pretty average and relatable girl who didn’t disappoint with the normal girl drama to cause trouble where there isn’t any from time to time.
The only complaints I have aren’t with the story itself as much as with the execution. It could have been a little more polished. The story sometimes jumped around too much (especially at the beginning), was repetitive on occasion (with things like “you’re beautiful, perfect, amazing, ect”, and the conversations between the characters were a little stiff and formal at times. Danni’s thoughts were also quoted which kind of threw me off here and there. Despite these issues, it was still a great little story and those problems weren’t huge distractions for me. I was invested in Danielle’s and TJ’s relationship and wanted to know more.
My front door was still open as he kissed me. He spun me around, kicking the door closed with his foot. My back was up against the door, as he kissed me. I felt the world stop for just a second.
“I want you so much, Danielle. I need you.”
I could hear the need in his voice. I felt my shirt coming over my arms before I could react and saw it go flying across the room. He was pulling at my waist, grasping possessively with his fingers. He was pulling our bodies so close together that not even a piece of paper would slide between us.
“I want you, too. TJ, I need you.” My voice was a distant whisper. All I could hear was the loud beating of my heart. He kissed his way down my neck while he unbuttoned my jeans. They were off in less than a second. There was no stopping him now as he was burning with desire. I could feel how much he wanted me with every soft kiss. It was enough to push me over the edge. I was gasping now, feeling my breath caught in my throat. “Let’s go to my room, TJ.” I could barely hear my own voice.
“I need you now, Danielle…so much. I can’t wait that long. I want you right here.” His voice was rough and hoarse.
