I will tell you one thing, so listen carefully and heed my warning: Things are not always as they seem.
There is not a truer statement in this book. What a crazy and unexpected read! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was mysterious, suspenseful, and full of surprises! The plot was completely unique and unpredictable. After reading the first chapter I had knots in my stomach and was dreading what was to come, but as bits and pieces of the story were revealed things were definitely not what they seemed.
This is one of those books that I can’t really say much without giving it away, so I’m only going to say READ THIS! It’s a fantastic read that is super short (1470 Kindle pages), but packed with so much story. I had previously decided I didn’t like serials, but this was by Belle Aurora, so I decided to give it a try. I changed my mind. I LOVE serials!
The only small problem I had was with the romance. I think my problem is more of a personal preference. There is romance full of sparks, but I like a slow build and with serials you tend to get a fast-paced, in-your-face romance. That kind of romance just lacks a little something for me, but I did enjoy and love the characters. In comparison to what you get with this story it’s a really small price to pay.
This serial does have a heart-stopping cliffhanger, but don’t let that scare you away. This is the first time I actually LOVED the cliffhanger. It took my excitement level for Act 2 to a whole new level in a really good way.
“I trail her down the dark, dimly-lit hall. The sounds of our footsteps echo through the narrow space. I’m walking towards my destiny. How poetic. We reach the end of the hall. Frankie clicks in her keypad code. More humming and buzzing, the steel door clicks opens and finally – finally – I’m home. I take the first step towards the rest of my life. And I do it wearing a shit-eating grin. This is exciting. I’m excited. My life will be thrown one-hundred-and-eighty degrees. From boring to extraordinary. I can’t wait. “Welcome back to Mirage.” Frankie utters as she starts her descent down the stairs to the ground floor.” – Catarina, Night Fury
