Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her—that is, if she’ll let him.
Celeste has not had an easy life and although acceptance to college has not been the slightest issue, being accepted by her peers has been. Celeste has no friends and finds social interaction awkward, but lies to her family about a fantasy life she leads that flourishes with love and admiration from others.
When Celeste realizes that social life will continue to be important once she enters college, she embarks on a journey to change herself to fit in and make friends. Some of the things Celeste tries are laugh-out loud funny.
Celeste unexpectedly finds a friend in Justin, a liaison for Barton College. Although, the ivy colleges have their eyes set on Celeste, Justin takes a chance to woo Celeste to attend Barton, a small college on the West Coast. Through countless e-mails, texts, and a few encounters, the two develop an unexpected and unconventional romance. I absolutely loved the e-mails and conversations between these two. They were so sweet and funny. This is one of those stories that makes your heart overflow with giddiness.
I loved that Jessica Park steps outside of the box with her characters. Celeste and Justin are both so quirky and adorable. These two souls that do not fit in with what society deems normal find each other, accept one another for who they are, and make you fall in love along the way.
Overall, I adored this book! Celeste is introduced to us in Flat-Out Love, but Flat-Out Celeste is written as a standalone. I personally would suggest that you read Flat-Out Love first. Not only do I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun, quirky, and completely original read, but I feel that one might not fully appreciate and understand Celeste if they do not read her back story first.
P.S. To the fans of Flat-Out Love, there are some SHOCKING occurrences that happen with Matt and Julie, so you will not want to miss out on this!
If you know Celeste then you know about the curtsy … here’s a song just for fun :)
