When an accident claims her mother’s life, Keahilani Alana must take charge of her family or risk losing what little they have. With an underage brother to care for and no education, she has few options. The door to a heavenly hellish opportunity opens when she stumbles upon a valuable secret her mother left behind on the slopes of an extinct volcano—a legacy that tempts the family with riches beyond their wildest dreams. But the secret is much bigger and more sinister than they realize. As reality unravels and exposes eerie truths about the siblings that should have remained deep under the mountain, Keahilani must either resist the call of her blood or risk being consumed by its darkness. Blake Murphy is an assassin working to infiltrate a new Hawaiian cartel. His investigation reveals that Keahilani, the sexy surfing instructor he pegged as an informant, is much closer to the drug ring than he thought. Passion ignites between them in the bedroom, but their ironclad ties to opposing interests pit them against each other everywhere else. When tensions reach the breaking point and her family is threatened, the only cure for Keahilani’s hot-blooded fury is a loaded clip with a body bag chaser. * HOT-BLOODED is a suspense/thriller that contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.
Wow, this book was awesome. I will admit I was skeptical going into this book. When you start talking about legends and words or names I can’t pronounce my eyes glaze over a bit. This book was a very pleasant surprise. This gritty, out of the box book really pulled me in and I had a hard time pulling away from it once I started. Who needs food, right?
This book doesn’t fit one genre. It has a little something for everyone: suspense, mystery, sex, love, family, and a little magic sprinkled on top. The one thing lacking that I typically read is romance, but it does have passion and scorching, hot sex, which is basically the same thing.. in books anyways :)
Keahilani was a kick-ass heroine. Darkness ran through her veins and the only thing that mattered to her was family. Even a hot assassin who gave her the best sex of her life couldn’t easily chisel away at her heart. That being said there was something very likable about her. Her passion and sense of protection for her family was admirable.
The plot in this multi-layered story was well thought out. Every person and piece of information played a necessary role and eventually it all tied in together for the story to come full circle. This book had me on the edge of my seat with its shock and awe factor as the story took many twists and turns as secrets were unveiled .
There were only a few things in this book that weren’t my cup of tea, but they would spoil the story, so I will keep them to myself. Just know, despite my personal preferences they didn’t take away or pull me away from the story.
Overall, this was an engrossing, entertaining, well-written, MUST-READ!
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book to see where this story takes us!
If you haven’t jumped aboard Keahilani and Blake’s crazy train, now’s the time to take the leap!
