This is a weekly feature, where I take a break from reading and chat books.
We all judge books by their covers. Some more so then others. Me.. a lot.
Looking through my Kindle, I have noticed that a lot of the books that draw me in have a similar look. They must draw you in too because many of these books are pretty popular in the indie world. Maybe these guys are onto something :)
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to share so here are some trends I’ve noticed:
(Please note that I am in no way criticizing these books. I love a lot of these books and I have purchased many of these based on their cover alone)
Ok, so I would be lying if I said these covers didn’t catch my eye. I may have
licked read a few of these ;)
I’m not really sure why I’m drawn to these, but I am. I have read 4 of these and own the 5 that have been released.
These guys either have a massive headache or are heavy in thought. I must admit that these are some of my favorite covers. Something about a vulnerable man gets me every time.
These mysterious covers make me want to find out what’s inside. I’ve read the last 3 books in this line up and they are some of my very favorite reads.
The Open Field
This is the only category I haven’t read a single book in. I do own 4 of the 6, but that’s as far as I haven gotten. I am curious as to what these girls are doing out in a dirty field in a pretty dress.
The Suit and Tie
I must be drawn to a man in a suit because I’ve read every single one of these books. I blame Christian Grey.
The Forehead Kiss
Awww, the sweet forehead kiss. I think of a sweet love story with some tears when I see these covers. Of the above that I’ve read, they have provided just that.
Black and White with a POP of Color
This seems to be the most popular trend lately. They are everywhere you look! I have a weakness for books with these covers… they’re just so pretty! For me it doesn’t matter the color as long as it’s against that black and white background because I’ve read most of these or at least purchased them to do so later.
and last, but not least.. the biggest trends of all:
The Cover Designers
These beautiful covers and trends wouldn’t be possible without the amazing cover designers who design them. Check them out some time! Most of them post synopsis when they reveal a cover, so it’s a great way to get a sneak peak of upcoming books!
I’m sorry if I missed you! I don’t know who designed every cover above, but I’m listing those whose work I recognize – shoot me a quick e-mail if you see your design and want your link added!
Keep a look out because Part 2 and 3 will be coming soon!
