We have another new book and author for you this week! Meet Annabel Fanning, author of She! This one sounds pretty good, has great ratings, and the cover is gorgeous!
Logan has loved Gemima for years. ??Gemima doesn’t know.
After her deadpan relationship implodes, Logan seizes his chance to rock her world.
Set in picturesque Paris, SHE is an erotic tale about falling madly in love. Combining sex, passion, and romance, these two high-flying professionals will leave you saying, “Oh, la la!”
Can you tell us a little about your book?
SHE tells the story of Gemima and Logan. They are two American expats who live in Paris, whose paths have crossed due to them working in similar industries. Logan has loved Gemima since the moment he first saw her, some two years ago. Gemima was in a deadpan relationship and so nothing ever happened. Time passes, jump ahead to present time and Gemima is now single. She unexpectedly receives a phone call from Logan (who’s a popular construction magnate) asking her out to lunch. This is where the novel starts – their reacquaintance. Things blossom from there.
What led you to start writing?
My curiosity. I was on a freelancer website and I saw a lot of requests for ghost-writers for short erotic novels. It sparked my curiosity – I wanted to know what writing erotica would be like. I’d already written several other genres, such as YA, fantasy, spiritual, and historical romance, so erotica was something quite different. I decided to write a short story, I did a bit of research by visiting www.hdsexvideo.xxx but I found that I couldn’t write about sex without it being in some sort of context, so the story developed a little because of that, and I kept writing and writing, really falling in love with the story and the characters and eager to see where it was all going. My short story turned into SHE and it’s over 114k words long!
How long did it take you to write your book?
Off and on, about 3 months
Tell us a little about your writing process and what your typical day as a writer looks like?
For me it’s about total focus and zero distractions. The only time I don’t answer my cat when he’s meowing is when I’m writing, hahaha. I like to be in silence, no thoughts about my day or other people etc, everybody “out” of my space – just my characters and I.
I’m usually excited to get writing when I wake up. Wherever I’ve left my characters form the night before I’m eager to keep going – to explore more with them.
What do you hope people take away from your book?
I wanted to show that love can be easy and graceful and have a beautiful flow and simplicity to it. I believe that is what I’ve achieved with SHE. My intention when I started writing SHE was to write about two confident, grounded, self-assured individuals who come together, realise they like each other, admit their attraction, and then progress easily from there. I was so bored of the drama and the insecure female character “does-he-like? Doesn’t-he-like-me?” and the dominant, secretive male character – just bored of reading that.
What do you do when you are not writing?
Usually other creative things. I love photography – especially of nature. I love walking in nature. I love playing with my cat. Recently I’ve turned into my own PA, so lots of social media things.
What’s your biggest book pet peeve?
Sex in the first few pages. I’d like to get to know the characters names first, hahaha.
What is your favorite love story (book or movie)?
Usually something about a kid and their pet. Those love stories are the best – so real, unguarded, unconditional – sure way to make me cry, hahaha.
What was the last book added to your “favorite” list?
I honestly don’t remember! I’ve been so busy lately, finishing SHE, then editing SHE, then releasing it and doing the promo etc…so I can’t recall.
Tell us 3 random facts about yourself.
I have a white lightning bolt tattoo on my wrist.
I lived in the same apartment complex as Robert Pattinson in Los Angeles for a while. (awesome)
I like broccolini, but not broccoli
I’m sort of international in terms of my parents’ mixed-nationalities and where I’ve lived, but I think of myself as British. I spent my childhood in an idyllic Scottish country town. Now I live in Perth, Western Australia.
The idea for SHE came to me at the beginning of last year. I was working on a website as a freelance editor and I saw several posts about writers required for short erotic stories. My curiosity was sparked!!
I wrote the first two pages of SHE and something clicked within me. I knew I wanted to (had to) keep writing it and a plot formed in my mind soon after.
Because this was my first piece of erotic writing I had anticipated that SHE would be a short story, but once these characters got going they could not keep their hands off of each other. Very soon I surpassed the 100k mark and I had so much I still wanted to write, and so decided to cut SHE in Parts 1 & 2. I published SHE part 1 a few weeks ago (have you got your copy yet?) Part 2 will follow this year!
