From New York Times and USA Today bestselling indie author Nicole Edwards comes the seventh book in her Alluring Indulgence series, erotic romances featuring the Walker brothers from Coyote Ridge, Texas, and their sizzling-hot love interests.
Sawyer Walker has never run into problems with women. The female population tends to swarm toward him, in fact, and he’s never had a complaint.
But there’s one woman Sawyer has always had his eye on. A woman who won’t give him the time of day. In recent months, it would seem that Kennedy Endsley is opening up to Sawyer, but she’s got a few surprises in store for him. Because, as hard as she finds it to resist the handsome Walker brother, she won’t give in easily. Not when her heart is on the line.
I’m not one to read books out of order. It just gives me an uneasy feeling. Every now and then a book comes along by an author I am dying to read, so I give it a try. This was one of them. Although this is book #7 in the Alluring Indulgence series, it can be read as a standalone and what an introduction to the series!
I honestly had no idea what this series was about, or even the genre when going into this one. This was full of firsts for me. Aside from my first Nicole Edwards book, this was my first book with so many diverse backgrounds amongst characters, and my first book about a cowboy who owns a sex resort. It definitely didn’t disappoint.
Sawyer is a charming, former playboy who has his eyes and heart set on the one woman who wants nothing to do with him. Kennedy Endsley is a former nerd turned bombshell vetrinarian who has no intentions of ever giving into her attraction to the man who took part in making her highschool experience miserable.
I loved the build up of this romance. These two were sweet, had great chemistry, and I enjoyed their witty banter towards one another. There was no instalove here. Sawyer had to work hard to get the girl. This book was also scorching hot! I tend to skim sex scenes in books (OH, THE HORROR!), but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was glued to every word.
As I stated earlier this is a standalone. With that said I will mention that the series is about 7 brothers, and this is a close knit family. When you throw in all the significant others and thier children it can be hard to keep up with who is who. I’m not sure if the family plays such a central part in every book, or if the author uses these lovable characters as a way to give readers of the previous books bonus scenes. Despite getting the names jumbled up from time to time, I adored this family. They defintiely added some humor and drama to the story. I’m interested in catching up on some of the previous books in the series to get to know some of theim better, especially Travis and his family.
I recommend this read to those who love swoonworthy, contemporary romances with a slow build followed by a heavy dose of steam.
